Our echoes Server is capable of receiving a DICOM file over a secure connection; however, although the DICOM standard defines how to send a DICOM file over an encrypted (using SSL/TLS), many third-party PACS vendors do not implement this Secure DICOM Push. The FDA has mandated in HITECH that all Patient Health Information (PHI) be encrypted during transmission over unprotected networks, such as the Internet, yet you still want to be able to receive images from doctors you work with on your echoes Server. You could set-up a VPN between the practice and Medstrat, but the practice does not have the IT wherewithal to accomplish it. What are you to do?
Medstrat's echoes Relay is the solution. Now orthopedic Sales Representatives can receive patient images from the doctors they work with via an easy software solution. Simply email the link at the bottom of the Personalized echoes Relay Installer page to your contact at the practice and have them click on the link and install the software on one of their PCs. The echoes Relay software will automatically begin running after installation. In addition, during the software installation, a shortcut will be added to the Startup folder on their PC, so that in the event that the computer is ever turned off or rebooted, you can rest assured that your personalized echoes Relay will always be up and running.

Once the echoes Relay is up and running, have your contact at the practice change the AE Title and port to whatever is convenient for them, if the default values do not suffice. Then, on their PACS, have them set-up a DICOM Push destination that matches the AE Title, IP address, and port that is displayed in the echoes Relay window. Whenever you need an image from that practice, simply have them DICOM Push the images from their PACS to that DICOM Push destination. The DICOM image files will be relayed securely across the Internet to your inbox on your echoes Server.
