Technical Support Analyst

Job Description
This position will act as a Technical Support Analyst in the Support Department at Medstrat, Inc in Downers Grove, IL. The position requires a solid understanding of and experience with Linux or another flavor of UNIX and demonstrated experience with setting up a network in a UNIX environment. Periodic travel (approximately once per month) to new customer sites to do an installation of servers and software will also be required. Additionally, the position will be responsible for assisting with the technical support of customers via phone, email, and by remote log-in (ssh). The ideal candidate will have analytical problem solving skills, display a flair for managing small projects, and have the ability to resolve complex, time-sensitive issues in an efficient manner. The position may also be responsible for drafting proposals and procedural documents to assist in stream-lining operational duties
   
Description of the System
Our echoes system consists of a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) server and client applications for Windows, Mac, iPhone, and iPad. The client-server architecture of our PACS creates a robust, scalable, distributed system for storage, search, and retrieval of terabyte-sized medical image data sets. The result is that our users have distributed access to MRI, CT, X-ray, and other medical image types from multiple types of devices which in turn improves clinical workflow. Our software provides image manipulation, image processing, and pre-operative surgical planning abilities to orthopedic doctors and clinicians at hundreds of orthopedic practices across the country. Our PACS is considered the best-in-class digital diagnostic and surgical planning solution in the orthopedic PACS market space. 

General Requirements
  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related field
  • Willingness to travel (up to 10% of the time)
  • Ability to consistently lift fifty pounds
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Competent at setting priorities and managing deadlines

Technical Skills Required
  • Demonstrated experience with Linux or another flavor of UNIX
  • Experience with setting up a network in a UNIX environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot networks (Network+, A+ desired but not required)
  • Experience and familiarity with network administration and monitoring (NFS, Samba, Disk I/O, CPU usage, load balancing, and network connectivity/usage)
  • Demonstrated competency with RAID concepts and applications
  • Comfortable working with hardware and building out servers

Technical Skills Preferred
  • Applicants with a solid understanding of MySQL and Apache preferred
